Blurb Of Missing In Flight
Rushing back to her seat from the restroom, Makayla Rossi is relieved that all’s still quiet. But when she checks on her sleeping baby, relief morphs into fear. The bassinet is empty.
Liam is gone. At 30,000 feet.
Passengers and crew scour the plane to no avail, and since no one recalls seeing her with a baby, suspicions begin to mount about Makayla’s mental state. If only Jack, her husband, were there. He would believe her. A high-profile banker featured in Forbes, maybe he could even help.
But Makayla is squarely on her own. And she’ll have to think fast in order to find her son—before it’s too late.

My Review
Wow! This was one high-speed story that had me gasping at places when a three-month child went missing at 30,000 feet. My heart leaped into my throat, imagining the plight of the mother who couldn’t find her child and the chilling moment when no one believed that she even had a child on board. I loved the desperation that emanated from her when the staff on the airplane stopped looking for her child, even when she pleaded them. Those emotions came out as waves affecting me. I was aghast and quite piqued by the concept (though not new) and couldn’t stop reading the book from beginning to end.
3 stars
Cover, Plot, Writing
The red color on the cover with the open seat belt called out to me. So that was a plus. I selected the book to have a look at it. Then came the blurb which had a missing child trope, again something that was one of my favorites (because you just can’t go at a slow pace in such a trope). Add in to the fact they were on an airplane that was facing turbulence. So all these 3 facts made me open the first page.
The writing was enthralling, to say the least. Some of the emotions from the mother brought a lump to my throat, and I too was desperate to find this child. But there were many lines that were repeated, so I was not too fond of the same information being told to me again and again.
The plot line was quite innovative. The author took a regular trope and placed it within the vortex of a high-octane stormy situation and made it read fast. I appreciated all of the subplots of the husband and his work and other people surrounding the main character. There were many tiny nuances that I should have suspected but didn’t. I loved the fact that I was taken completely unaware when they were revealed to me.
Strengths
I would put the plot line to be the biggest draw for this book. It was an automatic pick-me-up for me, and I was sure every thriller reader would love to get their hands on this.
I loved the locked-room claustrophobic feel that the story had where I looked at all the passengers with suspicious eyes. The characters were shown to live such normal lives that I couldn’t even begin to guess why the child was kidnapped, to begin with. I racked my brains to come up with an answer, but the author managed to pull that off well.

Weaknesses
Where there was a strong main plot line, there were many subplots that came in the latter half of the book, I would say last few chapters, that were unbelievable. I don’t mean the normal ones where a small creative license was used in the story. These were mega ones that were fantastical and would surely trigger the people who hated to fly. If such a getaway was really possible, nobody would fly ever again or even trust the airport authorities. Intrigued? You have got to read this book if you get it free on kindle.
The characters could have more depth and nuances written in and their actions, more reasoning. Here the author, being the pilot, concentrated more on how they managed to land the plane than the characteristics of the people who furthered the plot.
The ending was quite rushed and very much over-the-top. I turned the pages faster than I could blink. I just wanted to know if the baby was found safe and sound, and that was why I could finish the book in one-go. Sadly, tiny things like adding nuances to the characters, giving me more backstory than the one that was written on a loop, believable plot lines made this a not-so-gripping read.
Do I Recommend?
Strangely enough, yes. But only if you get it free. The concept was definitely that of a high-speed thriller movie, but the story lacked the depth and emotions that would have made this an immersive read. It just didn’t gr
