I don't believe in skim reading or using AI.
When you hand over your manuscript, you aren't just getting a quick read-through or an AI generated report. You’re getting a deep, three-step look at your story from a reader's perspective.
I take my time and put my heart into my beta reading because I know how much work you’ve already put in, and my goal is to make sure your story, with its plot, characters, and pacing, is actually landing on readers.
I look at the big picture - the flow and the development - but also zoom in on the characters. Do they feel real? Are their emotions consistent? Is there more showing than telling?
I’m here to give you honest, useful feedback with actionable steps so you can hit "publish" with total confidence.
The Process
I read all genres and give every book 3 readings. So, to read a 50 to 80k manuscript, I would take 3-4 weeks.
First is the quick scan to get the overall vibe.
Second is the slow read where I take in the emotions of the characters and pace of the story along with plot holes.
Third is the slow and detailed read, marking down all the points that are well written and those sections that need more work, giving you actionable suggestions. I use Microsoft Word Track Changes for this.
Finally, I type the overall feedback, covering all facets from the first-chapter impact and character development to writing style and story flow. This would include answering all your questions regarding your book.
I would send you an email when I get to my third reading.

I highly recommend Nila. I went with Nila after reading all the good reviews here, and at a recommendation of a friend. I am aiming for tradpub, and I read here that some of her clients she has beta-read for are tradpub.
Her advice has definitely made my writing stronger. I didn't know I was doing a vague "telling" thing with actions that should be more specific with "showing." She pointed them out in various places in my manuscript, and she provided some good examples of what she was talking about and how I could improve them. This will be something I will be watching out for in my future writing.

Nila was so AMAZING
When reading my 140k romance/fantasy, she was extremely thorough with her feedback and provided excellent notes that really helped me to understand what my book needed in order to become successful. She provided an in-depth analysis of each character and each chapter, and it was JUST what I needed. I had edited my novel several times over the past few months, and I felt “stuck” on what else could be improved upon (although I knew it wasn’t perfect… it needed SOMETHING). Turns out, it needed another set of eyes from a professional reader, who was able to tell me where I was lacking and where I was thriving. She pointed out the negatives and the positives, and it made me feel like I was definitely headed in the right direction. I have used Nila for a second time as her feedback from reading my first novel was invaluable. So much so, I have since signed with a publisher. I have just received her comments for my second novel and I am as impressed as I was the first time. Nila's kind but she doesn't mince words. She's a very astute beta reader, who can go straight to the root of the problem. Sometimes it may feel like a root canal, but she does it with a little novacaine so it won't hurt so much. But in the end, you're going to get a much better book. I appreciate her honesty.
