Short Summary
Mind Games – As they do each June, the Foxes drive the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened. The kids will be staying with Grammie now in Redbud Hollow, and thanks to Thea’s vision, their parents’ killer will spend his life in supermax.
Over time, Thea will make friends, build a career, find love. But that ability to see into minds and souls still lurks within her. Thea can hear the killer’s twisted thoughts and witness his evil acts from miles away. He knows it, and hungers for vengeance. A long, silent battle will be waged between them―and eventually bring them face to face, and head to head…

My Review of Mind Games
Why I picked up Mind Games
It was a Nora Roberts book, and I love this author.
I have been in dilemma over which book I ought to review first on this new blog of mine. And when this book landed in my hands, and I loved it, I knew this was the One. And here I am, absolutely delighted that this book called out to me. A story that had a gamut of emotions that broke me into pieces, then joined me back once again, filling my heart with love and hope.
Family and relationships. Good vs evil. Strength of heart vs mind games.
Plot of Mind Games
I liked the balance the author maintained between her characters and the plot in Mind Games. There was never a feeling of being overwhelmed with one. The beginning was tragic, made me cry, but the author captured the spirit and resilience of the people living in the mountains. Even the introduction of supporting characters was done in such a poignant manner that I felt I knew them all as my family.
The main characters grandmother Lucy, granddaughter Thea, and grandson Rem were the ones who carefully took me on this multi-generational saga where I could see the strings of love between all three of them. Even when the kids grew up and lived their lives, but always considered Lucy home. Each one thrived under the loving care of Lucy, including the family not of the blood but of the heart.
Do you have a person in your life who you would call your home?
Detailed and strongly paced, the book had the evil playing mind games in the outer realms. That made it further suspenseful and made me root for Thea as she continued to hold off the enemy. I loved the idea of a home being a sanctuary against the evil. This was a family that opened their hearts to all those deserving while standing in support of those who needed it.
Thea’s supernatural sight along with Lucy’s knowledge of living life extraordinarily gave it an added layer. Romance for Thea was weaved in well, even where there were bumps and issues of trust peppered in it. The whole book had a sense of impending confrontation between the good and evil. And when it came, it tied everything and made it a journey that I would continue to make again and again.
Weaknesses
For me, there were none since I relished every moment I spent in this book.
Conclusion
Pages turned easily when every page showed me the rich tapestry of life and family and loving relationships, even when faced with the unimaginable along with evil mind games. There could never be an author who could capture my heart so easily than Nora Roberts.
Recommendation
This is a book I would completely recommend to everyone who loved the themes of Good vs Evil. Family and Friendship. To readers who wanted to wrap themselves in the cocoon of love and beautiful relationships.
