What started as an extension of my blog seven years ago has transformed today into a powerful tool for connecting with new audiences, promoting my beta reading and PR services, and driving revenue.

From Blog Extension to Audience Expansion on Instagram

In the early days, Instagram served as a complement to my blog, along with what was originally known as Twitter, allowing me to share snippets of my content and engage with my friends and other people all across the globe. However, slowly as I began to consume more content on Instagram, I recognized its potential as a platform that would help me reach new audiences, and therein began the seed of monetizing it. I began a more strategic approach, and by leveraging hashtags (in those days, hashtags led to greater reach. But not today. That is a topic for another blog post), and engaging with other people in my niche, I was able to expand my reach and attract followers who were genuinely interested in promoting books with me, especially books of indie authors. I had a small group, but were we an enthusiastic bunch.

Diversification of Services

Like life, I have this great fire burning in me to grow further and try new things. As my Instagram account grew, so did my entrepreneurial ventures. Don’t get me wrong. Blogging and my website were my first love. But Instagram grew to be addictive, especially during the lockdown days. But I am fast-forwarding things.

2018: Launching Beta Reading and Editing Services on Instagram

In 2018, I launched my beta reading and editing services on Instagram, using Instagram to promote my services and connect with many authors. The following year saw the introduction of book PR services for virtual book tours, further solidifying my presence in the literary community. In 2020, I decided to add another layer to my services by offering PA/VA services, thereby providing complete support to authors and small bookish merch owners.

In 2023, I expanded still further in this paradigm and ventured into digital marketing. While making my own digital products, I now am in a position to empower women to build a sustainable online business through strategic branding and marketing efforts. In fact, my shop today has every single product that will make your Instagram journey simple and effortless. Instagram Monetization and Revenue Generation

What most people do not realize is how powerful Instagram is. What most do is blame the algorithm instead of checking if their content is speaking to the right audience. The September of 2023 saw me sit up and take a quick look around this platform and learn all that I needed to know to leverage its algorithm. By understanding and leveraging the platform’s algorithm, I created digital products that generated significant revenue. My mantra now is—if I am scrolling on Instagram, I might as well make some money off it.

Today this website and my social media account are an embodiment of my services where the love of my authors and clients love keeps me raring to go every day. After all, not many can say they love what they are doing at work. Numbers don’t matter as the algorithm has shown, it is only the content that rules Instagram. Fortunately, I got to be up on the Explore page many times where my content was seen by many, but most importantly, my products could land in the hands of my ideal clients, who have valued my expertise and insights.

Driving Traffic and Engagement

Beyond revenue generation, Instagram has been instrumental in driving traffic to my Shopify site. By creating compelling content and establishing myself as an authority, I’ve attracted clients worldwide. This platform has made it easy for anyone with no experience in marketing to start their business with minimal or no investment.
