OMG. What did I just read? If you think Woman Down by Colleen Hoover is a standard thriller, you’re mistaken. This was a graphic, taboo ‘cringe-fest’ following Petra, an author who takes method writing way too far. From a disturbing extramarital affair to a late-game thriller pivot, here is why this book left me creeped out.

Great Big Beautiful Life promised glamour, legacy, and heart—but only partially delivered. While the setup was compelling, the execution felt rushed and lacked emotional depth. Characters skimmed the surface rather than diving deep, leaving me craving more. Here’s my full, honest take on what soared—and what fell flat.
Missing In Flight is a high-octane thriller novel that will make you question all the passengers as the mother searches for her 3-month-old missing child onboard a flying airplane. A locked-room kind of mystery, the story had some heart-stopping moments that would make you gasp. Though I have to admit some of its latter scenes were quite unbelievable. Suspend your belief while you read this thriller.
Memorial Park was an intense police procedural that had me hooked from the start. The gripping mystery, emotional depth, and strong dynamic between Lucy and Jack kept the tension high, while the K-9s added heart to the story. The layered plot expertly wove past and present, revealing secrets at just the right moments. Dark themes were handled with care, making this a compelling and addictive read.
Beautiful Ugly had the setup for a gripping thriller but fell flat. The isolated island, eerie atmosphere, and unreliable narrator should have built suspense, yet the story dragged with repetitive narration. Grady Green’s perspective lacked depth, and the so-called twist relied more on deception than clever misdirection. If you’re looking for true psychological tension, this one misses the mark.
Crafting effective story hooks is the secret to keeping readers glued to every chapter. Emotional, action-packed, or mysterious, hooks draw your audience deeper into the narrative. They create intrigue, evoke emotions, and set the tone for what’s to come. Mastering this skill will transform your storytelling and ensure your readers can’t put your book down.
